Here is a guitar I have been working on for a bit. It is my first guitar after two eye surgeries to get decent vision in one of my eyes. I took off building for nearly a year. Now my vision is pretty good and I am enjoying my time in the shop. Here is the guitar I just strung up. It has great tone. Once I tune the back down a bit I will be at 95 Hz Sound hole, 180 Hz top with the back some where between 226 and 240 Hz. I just have a to spec setup (no on guitar adjustments.} I will wait a week for the guitar to settle in and do all of the fine setup.

Gorgeous! Looking forward to seeing it, unless it's headed off to a new home right away.

Nice! Even though those books came out a at least a decade ago, I still haven’t had time to make one…

That's great John, I have my first falcate braced guitar almost done, should have strings on it next week.
Hope it comes out half as good as yours!

Sounds good! I built a falcate braced dred about 7 years ago and it came out good. Had a different sound than my X braced guitars, but it was a good sound. It didn’t last long and found a new owner quickly.

She's a beaut!

The name catgut is confusing. There are two explanations for the mix up.

Catgut is an abbreviation of the word cattle gut. Gut strings are made from sheep or goat intestines, in the past even from horse, mule or donkey intestines.

Otherwise it could be from the word kitgut or kitstring. Kit meant fiddle, not kitten.
